My talents are broad in scope, and I have an eye for details and colors. My years as an innkeeper helped establish my reputation as a determined and hard worker with a keen eye for design and the ability to quickly build a rapport with my customers. I have studied color theory and have a long history of painting both walls and canvases. Believe it or not, there is only a fine line between sculpting and spackling, landscape painting, and wall painting. All require skill, patience, and knowledge of the materials. I love practicing all of my abilities, and I hope you will allow me to show you how I can bring beauty into your living environment.
“I am inspired by my long walks in nature and my ongoing need to understand my environment. Through painting, drawing, ceramics, photography, and sculpture I attempt to interpret a rich and poetic inner dialog. My work reflects my dedication to exploration and mastery of materials. By focusing on craftsmanship, techniques, and materials, my work engages the viewer to explore a world of simple, organic compositions, textures and patterns”.
Andrea is an artist and entrepreneur based in Orange County, NY, and Umbria, Italy who specializes in ceramics, sculpture, and painting. Having overcome several challenges in recent years, she was determined to return to school to study art and visual communication and in 2017 received her B.A in Art History (Summa Cum Laude) and a B.F.A in Ceramics (Summa Cum Laude) in 2018, both from SUNY New Paltz.
In 2013, Andrea was awarded the SUNY Purchase Baccalaureate and Beyond Scholarship and in 2014, she was particularly honored to have been the recipient of the Greg Wyatt, Fantasy Fountain Fund Scholarship allowing her to learn directly from master sculptors at The Modern Art Foundry in Astoria, Queens. Her bronze work, as well as a small series of sculptures based on Pompeii, have been well received and her work ethic has ensured that she has been invited back in perpetuity by the owners of the foundry. In 2018, she was awarded the Margaret L. Gongaware Scholarship to study at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee and the Fuller Scholarship at the historic Penland School of Craft in North Carolina. Her work has been exhibited throughout New York and is in several private collections.
Andrea has teaching experience in both art history and fine art practices across different mediums. She is also fluent in Italian, in which she offers tutoring as well as private and group cultural tours throughout Umbria.
